Reasons for Running:

The current office needs change. "I will bring 22 years of experience as a judge, attorney and prosecutor."

Ron Kent

Family:

Kent is single and has resided in Nevada for 62 years.

Education:

Kent earned a B.A. (philosophy/psychology) from the University of Las Vegas and a juris doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law.

Reasons for Running:

"The time is long overdue to 'raise the bar' and bring the district attorney's office into the year 2010. I want the opportunity to build the Nye County district attorney's office into something that every citizen of Nye County can be proud of. The citizens deserve no less.

"I have dedicated the past 11 years of my legal career to public service as the citizens' chief deputy district attorney. While serving in this capacity, I was lead legal counsel to all Nye County officials and governmental agencies. I have amassed extensive, in-depth knowledge of our county government, its day-to-day operations, its visions and its challenges in the future.

"I am convinced that my 27 years of diverse civil and criminal law experience, my 11 years of public service as your chief deputy district attorney with the 'hands-on' experience and knowledge I have acquired, coupled with my proven leadership skills, all serve to make me uniquely equipped and qualified to be your next district attorney."

Reasons for Running:

"Over the past 11 years I have become concerned with the direction, priorities and culture of the district attorney's office. With my extensive litigation experience, management experience and participation on statewide bi-partisan activities, I believe I can clean the slate at the top and restore the public trust in the mission of the district attorney."

Reasons for Running:

"The county needs an honest, qualified and professional district attorney with skills too strong to ever be threatened or coerced. (We need) the prosecution of real criminals -- people who prey on our citizens must be the highest priority, and the county itself deserves conflict-free representation."
