Adult softball Star Lite Video defeated the Young Guns 18-17 in a one-game shootout to win the Pahrump Adult Softball Association spring championship, Tuesday at Petrack Park. Co-ed volleyball A co-ed volleyball league meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Petrack Park, in the bleachers next to the concession stand. Farmers Cup The second in the Farmers Cup Adult-Junior Golf series will be played July 25, with the finale Aug. 29 at Mountain Falls. The event is hosted by the Pahrump Valley Junior Golf Association and is for two-person -- one adult, one junior -- teams. The age groups are for both boys and girls: 6-8, 9-11, 12-14 and 15-18. The fees are $20 for the junior player, $25 greens fees for the adult player (9-hole rounds) and $35 for the adult player (18 holes). The series is sponsored by the Worden Agency of Farmers Insurance Group. Boosters seek members The Pahrump Valley High School Athletics Boosters Club is seeking members. Areas where help is needed for the 2010-2011 school year: concession sales and concessions setup/cleanup, as well as in awards banquet and fundraiser assistance. Football workouts Preparations for the 2010 Pahrump Valley High School football season are under way. Coach Leo Verzilli has issued a workout schedule. * The weight room is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., throughout the summer. * Workouts are slated from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Aug. 2-11. Aug. 12 will be the first day for double sessions (8 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Players are to bring plenty of fluids and a lunch on that day. The first day of contact drills will be Aug. 16. Practice moves to 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 26. The 2010 opener is Sept. 3 at home against Las Vegas Mountain View Christian; it is a Nevada Hall of Fame game and the night the Pahrump Valley High School Hall of Fame inducts the Class of 2010. * Rosemary Clarke Middle School's football registration will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 19, in the Sharks' gym. The first day of practice will be Aug. 23, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the middle school. Pop Warner Registration is open for the 2010 Pop Warner football season. Players ages 5-7 and weighing up to 75 pounds are in one division. Players 8-10 and up to 105 pounds (plus players 11 years old and weighing 85 pounds or less) are in the second. The playing age is as of July 31, 2010. Any registration after June 30, the cost will be $200 (cash or money order). Registration forms can be picked up and completed at Worden's Farmers Insurance Agency at 2210 E. Commercial Road (near the Nevada State Bank). The teams will play in the Nevada Pop Warner Conference in the Junior Pee Wee Division (ages 8-11) and the Tiny-Mite Division (ages 5-7). The coaches will be Robert Worden (Rush) and Dave Wright (Sharks). Teams have a limited number of roster spots, so early registration is encouraged, said Robert Worden. Practice will begin Aug. 3. AAU baseball Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) baseball summer mini-camps will be held every Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., at Pahrump Valley High School. The camp will be for experienced 12- and 13-year-old players wanting to train to achieve the next level of competition. Contact Phil at 727-7252. Registration is $14, an AAU fee. Looking for players Coast-to-Coast Baseball is seeking skilled baseball players, ages 10 to 18, to represent the United States in competition in Puerto Rico, or to work with top college coaches and pro scouts at camps in either Arizona or Florida.
