NCSO seeks two in sex assault

A brutal sexual assault of a 15-year-old Pahrump female has resulted in the arrest of two juveniles and one adult.

In addition, the Nye County Sheriff's Office is seeking Amanda Cadigan, 22, and Jared Ziegler, 22, for their alleged involvement.

According to a sheriff's office press release, on Monday, June 9, the victim went to a residence on Lorelie Street to hang out with her friend, a 15-year-old juvenile male.

When the victim arrived, her friend was home along with Cadigan, Ziegler and 19-year-old Darrell Ray Tunnell.

All five were drinking alcohol allegedly purchased by Ziegler and Cadigan.

The victim "became highly intoxicated to the point of incapacitation," the press release stated.

She ended up in a bedroom with three males: Tunnell, the 15-year-old juvenile friend she had come to visit and another 16-year-old male juvenile.

Further investigation by the sheriff's office revealed the victim was allegedly "sexually assaulted various times by various individuals in the bedroom while the others watched and sometimes participated."

Additionally, evidence was obtained indicating that Ziegler was allegedly aware of the sexual assault taking place but did nothing to stop or report it.

The sheriff's office reported that after it began the investigation, the suspects conspired to "alleviate criminal liability for the participation."

When a search warrant was later executed at the residence, James Cadigan, 51, and Anna Cadigan, 46, attempted to obstruct deputies from searching the residence.

James Cadigan allegedly even struck one of the deputies, the release stated.

Tunnell was arrested and booked on charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, sexual assault, conspiracy to commit sexual assault, accessory to commit sexual assault, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and abuse/neglect/endangerment of a minor.

The two juveniles allegedly in the bedroom were transferred to Nye County Juvenile Probation.

Booking charges listed against both of them on the sheriff's office press release are: conspiracy to commit a crime, sexual assault, conspiracy to commit sexual assault, and accessory to commit sexual assault.

James and Amanda Cadigan were cited and are expected to appear in Pahrump Justice Court for charges of obstructing a peace officer (James Cadigan is facing the additional charge of battery on a peace officer).

Warrants are being sought for Amanda Cadigan and Ziegler.

If found, Amanda Cadigan faces potential booking charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Ziegler faces possible charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, conspiracy to commit sexual assault, accessory to commit sexual assault, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Suspect busted for sex assault

Phillip D. Barber, 30, was arrested and booked on charges of sexual assault and obstructing and resisting a deputy.

Barber was a member of a jazz band playing at the Pahrump Nugget Saturday, June 14, according to the sheriff's office.

A 24-year-old female went up to Barber's room with some friends when the concert was over.

The victim said she found herself alone in the hotel room with Barber and his friend. She reportedly told deputies Barber would not leave her alone and began to sexually assault her.

Deputies were dispatched to the incident at 1 a.m. Barber was located returning to his hotel room but "was uncooperative in the detectives' investigation," according to the sheriff's office.

His bail has been set at $50,000.
